Hardware
Use a phone. Use compatible GPS hardware. Use your existing GPS system.
Three ways to put a vehicle on the map. None of them is a capital request, and you can mix them across one fleet.
Three ways in
A phone
Our Miles Tracker app on a phone that rides in the vehicle. One QR code sets it up in about two minutes; we do that with you during onboarding. On a driver's own phone it reports only while their shift is open, shows them whether it is on, and goes home untracked.
A GPS tracker you buy
A small tracker you buy yourself, from anyone you like, and fit — wired to power, ground and ignition sense by you or your mechanic, or plugged into the diagnostic port. We do not sell, loan, order, program, ship or install it. What we do is tell you which devices we have actually tested and will stand behind, and help you point one at your account; the list is on the supported hardware page. On a device outside that list the service still runs, but we cannot promise it behaves.
Your existing GPS
If you already publish a GTFS-Realtime feed, we relay it today and nothing needs installing. For a telematics system we have not connected before, the first customer on it pays $1,500 once and later customers pay nothing — today that is every one of them: the only connector built so far is the GTFS-Realtime reader.
What we do, now that we do not sell hardware
- Tell you which devices we have actually tested, and which we have not — including the ones that never worked for us.
- Give you the settings to point a device you bought at your own account.
- Walk the first installation through on a call; the rest follow the same three wires.
- Take the positions it produces and never sell them, to anyone, for anything.
- What we do NOT do: sell, loan, order, program, ship, install or maintain the device, or supply its SIM and data plan. Those are yours, from whoever you choose.
What we will not do
Read the engine
Ignition sense tells the tracker the vehicle is running; it cannot affect the engine and we read nothing else from the vehicle.
Watch the driver
No cameras, no cabin audio, no behaviour events. Positions of a vehicle, and only that.
Lock you in
There is nothing of ours on your vehicles to hold you with — you bought the devices and they stay yours. Your data leaves with you too: history on request, GTFS files in a zip.
What it costs
Nothing extra from us. The service is one price per vehicle, per month, the same on a phone, on a feed you already publish, or on hardware you own. You pay whoever sells you the device and whoever provides its SIM; we sell neither. The pricing page has the table.
